Back now from a short hiatus from blogging. Spent a couple days at a friends yard sale. Much needed for her apparently. Some space was clear more at Fairview. It is damn hot!!! However things are growing leaps and bounds. Picked some sugar snap peas, they were sweet and delicious.

Depression Kills
Trying to fight off the depression that has hit. The farm truck has taken a dive for the worst. Makes being stranded at Fairview very challenging. Can walk out, however grocery shopping is somewhat difficult. Had the thermostat replaced and that was not the problem apparently. It looks like a blown head gasket.

Gray Skies Perserve
Cooler day today with a sunny morning and cloudy overcast afternoon sky. Watered the snow peas and the rest of the vegetable garden except the rows of tomatoes. The tomatoes are growing by leaps and bounds with some of them forming blooms. Tomatoes are on their way soon.

Summer Is Coming
Spent another day watering the vegetable garden. It is starting to get hot or at least up to normal temperatures for this time of year. It is in the high 80'2 at 3 p.m. and rising. Fixed a plumbing problem that happened to the watering system during the snow of winter. It was a simple fix. Surprise surprise since most often things at Fairview are usually a complicated mess. Mock orange is blooming profusely and smells like something that would be on a tropical island.

Perfect Pea Picking
Picked snow peas today. It is amazing that peas can hide from a picker pefectly. Think that peas have all been picked and then another one shows its pea pod. It is good to have this many peas. Best crop ever here at Fairview. Possibly will freeze some for the winter. Sunny morning and overcast afternoon.

Good Day Sunshine
It truly has been a marvelous day in the neighborhood. Spent some time in the garden watering and picking snow peas. Managed to lay naked in the sun surrounded by blooming dandelions. That is the favorite thing of all time being with the birds and bees and witnessing the swallowtails doing their courting dance. Larger and darker clouds moved in around 3:30 p.m. It is predicted Fairview will have thunderstorms this afternoon and evening. Is it going to snow on July 4th?

You Guessed It
Another overcast day. Never have seen so many days in the month of June overcast and below normal temperatures. Usually it is flirting with the 90's, this year it is flirting with the 70's. Brrr!!! So much for global warming it is locally cooling. The poor vegetables are sitting there really not growing much. The cool season crops are doing fine. It is sprinkling at 4 p.m. and supposedly will rain tomorrow. Oh boy.

Skies of Gray
Another day of cooler temperatures. Not much done here at Fairview except to water the new planting of tomatoes and green beans along with the peas. Notice that the Kentucky wonder green beans are starting to pop up out of the ground. It will not be long before it is time to pick them. Just love them all kinds of ways. Witnessed a large brood of Quail. The young are probably only a few days old. They are so cute can not help smile when seeing them. Just want to pick one up and hold it and nuzzle it with love. When they move through the hillside it looks like some kind of insect invasion rustling through the grasses.

Unusually Cool Weather
Today has been very overcast with temperatures barely into the 70's. Spent most of the morning watering all the vegetables that have been planted for this years harvest. It appears the blockade that was constructed has worked in keeping the creatures at a distance away from the garden. Picked snow peas just like what has been done the last week. Feel extremely rich with this amount of snow peas. Have never ever had so many and more yet to come. Later in the afternoon planted a row of heirloom red cherry tomatoes. At this point not sure if there is any room left for anything else to plant. Probably will need to start in where those insidious berry vines are located. Still need to plant some corn and maybe butternut squash.

Nesting
The last couple of days have been weeding the garden of the horrendous berry vines and anything else that is shading or interrupting the growth of the snow peas. Today managed to plant some large flower-head Marigold plants. Kept thinning the apples in the orchard. When reaching for some apples to thin, heard a scream and out popped a mother robin that was sitting on her nest. This year have only noticed one nest, however; that may change when it is time to prune the trees in the winter. The nest is holding 3 beautiful eggs. Promised not to disturb them until there is sound coming from that location and certainly will be back with camera in hand.

Deer Alert
The deer have discovered where the tomatoes are planted. Bitten off at the tops. Anger does not even come close to the feeling pulsing through the veins. Thinking maybe some poisonous darts might come in handy. How cruel and inconsiderate they are to eat something that took so much time to cultivate. Living in the forest is extremely difficult with all the creatures wanting to eat everything.

Dark Skies
It has been a cold and dreary day at Fairview. Did only some snow pea picking and lit a fire in the wood stove. Managed to blow the litter of the roadway from yesterday's storm. Lighting and thunder rolled through the area with heavy downpours mixed with some hail.

Planting In Scorpio
Another day filled with digging and planting. Planted the Numex Big Jim Chili peppers along side the Anaheim peppers that were planted yesterday. Also the Kentucky Wonder Green beans have hit the dirt in a couple locations. A zucchini was planted at the end of the row of green beans. A bush green bean (Top Crop) was planted in front of the fencing for the Kentucky Wonder. Dug up areas for the planting of the large Marigolds that have sprouted and are getting ready for planting as well as the Basil. Even began to remove berry vines for more space to plant corn and general weeding. It has been perfect weather to do strenuous activity, not hot in the middle 70's with overcast skies temping to rain. Yesterday it did manage to sprinkle heavily. The predicted forecast is the closer to Friday the more chance of rain.

Hard Days Work
Spent most of the day digging and planting. Dug up and added amendments to the soil for planting Anaheim Chilis. Planted a vegetable that never has been planted at Fairview called Cardoon. Some gritter found my Large Cherry Tomato plants and ate the tops and in some cases pulled the whole plant out. Those damn rabbits!!! Says Elmer Fudd. Where is that shotgun? It is apparent one must become a critter murderer here. Lord have mercy.

Gardening
Spent a lot of time outside preparing the ground for planting and then planted the rest of the bell peppers, watermelon, musk melon, jack o lantern pumpkins and then constructed fencing for future planting of Kentucky wonder green beans and planted cucumber on the second fence. More is coming for tomorrow. Perfect moderate temperatures predicted for all week.
