Hot

It has been extremely hot for the last few days here at Fairview. Finished fertilizing the orchard today...yippie.

Gophers

They are eating everything this year those damn gophers. Never had them in the orchard before and now they are way too abundant.

Cooler Weather

Looks like it is time to start preparing for the winter.

Hot August Nights???

The weather is most unpredictable this year. It has been relatively a very cool summer. Only had a few days in the 100's. Yesterday canned 10 pints of blackberry jam. Yummy!!!

One Hot Day

Today the temperature is about 95*F. The first hot day of the year. Finally warmer weather is here. The garden is late and the crop of peaches and apples is very minimal due to the hail storm we had that left almost 2 inches on the ground.

Busy

Not done much posting lately, trying to recover from spending thousands of dollars on truck and car and not being able to drive them. The truck died...frozen engine. The car has a part that is taking days to get to the shop for them to put it in. Struggling with vehicles for 3 months now. Looking forward to a Llama?

Yes it is true the rain has gone but will return on Monday. Yippie the temperatures are rising. A new vehicle is now here at Fairview. A generous gift indeed. The ride is smooth and light on gas. Just love this new ride.

When It Rains It Pours

Depressed!!! Truck problems big time...broke down three times in the last 2 weeks. Depressed!!! Spent a lot of cash on the Truck and had to be towed home last night.

Rain, Snow, Wind

Well it has been a mixed bag with the weather. Last week an oak tree split apart and fell onto the road making it impassable. Today large now flakes falling. This is California? Trying to keep warm for the next few days with the extreme colder temps. Spring??? Well is fine so must be grateful!!!

Happy Easter

Snow in them there hills

Yep woke up to an inch of snow this morning, however by new it had melted away. The weatherman has predicted more snow for today maybe up to 4 inches. Certainly hope that is incorrect on his part. Fires are going both in the wood stove and the fireplace the inside is nice and toasty. Every once in a while venture outside to bring in more wood and it is freezing out there.

Hard Daze Nights

It was an unusual day of hunting and gathering wood to burn for heat which entailed splitting, cutting, carrying and filling the woodboxes with the cut wood. Afterwards was so hungry ate the frig out...

Hunting for Wood

Ran out of wood and the next round of storms are quickly approaching. Have only a couple days to hunt and gather wood until they begin. The well is really loving this wet year. It is greening up around Fairview now and the wild flowers are beginning to bloom. Just can't wait to see the Iris in their full glory. The daffodils are finishing blooming and the poets narcissus is blooming ending their season. Sad they only last such a short time and a lot of it is under snow. Oh well, that's why it is called the daffodil snow.

Rain and Snow

Seems like just rain and snow that is all that has been happening here at Fairview. Getting ready for today's snow. Ran out of firewood for the woodstove and collected some that is extremely wet from being outside all winter. Hoping it will dry enough to burn.

Marh Madness

Yep it that time of year. The rain, the snow, the sun, and blooming trees and flowers all rolled up into one roller coaster of a ride. Well, been hunting and gathering and cutting and burning wood. It is snowing at the moment. Trying to stay warm and stretch my wood since the wood pile is very low and not sure if it will last until May. Looking like March is really going to be a yet one here. Oh well, makes the water table higher.

Getting Ready

Well, it's been awhile since anything has been written here about Fairview. So here goes. Just have been locked in since the weather has been frightful. The house is getting a cleaning from top to bottom and vise a versus. Having a cold that seems to last forever makes it challenging since I often tucker out and need to lay down for hours. Anyway feeling much better today. Getting ready for the festivities that are coming up this weekend and of course Mardi Gras.

February Blues

Not done much at Fairview since the weather has been wet and snowy. There is only eight trees left to prune and as long as there done before bloom time everything will be all right. Mostly been shopping on ebay.

Rainy Day

Well not posted much lately due to the pruning of the orchard. On nice sunny days that is where all the attention is focused nowadays. Must finish before the breaking of the buds in Spring. It has been raining the last couple days. The water is well needed and appreciated.

New Year Planting

Well almost into the new year for a week now and been busy cleaning up the Christmas stuff. Will plant some bareroot fruit trees today. they are Babcock peach, Redhaven peach, a nectarine, and Fuyu persimmon.
