Cool Day
It has been a very cool day with temperatures in the low 70's. Cut some wood this morning and stacked it for winter use. Hard to believe it is the last day of September. Where does the time go?

Busy Day

Cooler and Breezy
Today is cooler with a breeze that is making outside a little challenging. Will be cutting some wood tomorrow since the expected high is only going to be around 67*F. Brrr it seems like fall wants to come in after all. Apple picking is just around the corner. Lower temperatures are expected for a week, perfect for sweetening up the apples. This is one of the latest apple harvests here at Fairview. Had to water the tomato plants today after those blazing temperatures of the last few days. The plants have even begun to bloom again. Will have plenty of green fried tomatoes later. Expecting to can some more tomato puree tomorrow. Busy days are here again at Fairview.

Hopefully One Of The Last Days Of 100*F
Well it is another day the temperature has risen to 100*F. Inside the house it is 83*F. A little hot and making it difficult to do any kind of activities. Probably will need to take a nap and wake up when it is cooler. The basement apartment stays cool. Going that direction in about an hour to lie down upon grandparents 30's bed surrounded by their vanity and chest of drawers. Have loved this set forever beginning at birth. Spent many a moment sleeping there cuddled in between my grandparents, when the nightmares where too much to handle alone.

River Day
It was so hot today decided the river was the place to be. It was 106*F at 1:00 pm called a friend and of to the river surprisingly it was not that crowded. Too many dogs unleashed however. Things cleared around 4pm leaving such a peaceful paradise. Departed around 5pm after finishing scrabble.

The Water Is Back
Yes the water was flowing again in the ditch at 2pm yesterday making its way to the storage tank here at Fairview Farm. Such a delight to hear and see that water flowing into an empty storage tank. The tomatoes were finally given some water at 11 am this morning. The pump won't work until the float is in the correct position. That is usually about half full. The storage tank holds 15,000 gallons of water. During fire season usually like to have it full at all times. Anyway did 2 loads of dishes in the dishwasher last night, load of laundry today, showers, watered the plants on the deck. Water water water.

Water Flowing
Yes indeed the water in the ditch is flowing again bringing water to Fairview Farm. Thought of going to the river today just to bathe however not needed since the shower will work perfectly. Water is a necessary element in growing and living. Thankful the ditch is fixed. Now let it rain, let it rain, let it rain to bring the well back in compliance.

Hotter Day
It was only a mere 102* F on the deck today. Great and no water the ditch has been shut down since the 20th. It is upsetting to have an irrigation system that runs things like Nazis. They only care about money, money and more money. Always raising the rate for water and not giving any real service and shutting the canal in the record breaking temperatures. Not had a shower now for two days and not doing dishes or laundry. Supposedly will be back on soon. Can not wait to much longer.

Up and Down the Lazy River
Well maybe down the lazy river is a bit incorrect. However it was wonderful today to be away for awhile at this magical place on the Yuba River with its clear water. The river was down but is still forceful with some rapids and a current that will quickly transport one to another place in no time at all.

It I s Coming
Yep the turning of the seasons is definitely here. Many trees are starting to turn colors. The days a warm and nights cooler. The next few days are expected to be very hot though more like summer. Anyway watered the tomatoes and the rest of the garden getting ready for the heat. More ground apples picked up and thinking of making applesauce for canning.

Cooler Days Are Here
Rained on Sunday night making for cooler weather here. No need to water until a few days from now and besides the orchard is officially finished with the watering. Ground apples now are being collected and becoming apple cake and juice. Will be harvesting the trees in a few days. The weather is making the apples sweeter and with the help of water it is helping the process. Canned 15 1/2 quarts of tomato puree yesterday. It is finally feeling like an accomplishment of all the hard work started back in March when the tomatoes were started from seed. The deer attacking them and watering them in the extreme heat of summer. It is gratifying to see those quarts and pints all lined up on the shelves in the cold storage room.

Hot Late Summer Daze
Reaching into the 100's today. Spent the morning watering the plants on the deck. The orchard has been watered entirely. It appears that some of the ground apples are edible. Made a breakfast of them. Picked the daily supply of tomatoes.

More Harvest
Pretty much doing the same chores today except adding unloading the pickup of the Madrone wood my neighbors donated and started watering the Hypericum on the slope and probably for the last of the season the orchard. Also loaded a bed full of Madrone from the neighbors for chores tomorrow. It has been 100* F. on the deck for two days in a row.
